| The wine region of the Alföld ( Great Plain ) |
Wines of the great plain
The Alföld plains are home to most of the light table wines. The kadarka of Kiskőrös and Csongrádi are popular, as is the Italian Riesling of Pusztamérges. The new vineyards of the Hajós-Vaskúti wine region, whose climate and loess (aeolian) soil type favour the production of quality wines. Hajós, with its individual old-world charm, provides the basis for the future of wine tourism.
